    Wood

I make turned wooden vessels, lidded, bowls and turned sculpture pieces are created on a lathe with the use of a variety of tools. I collect trees, destined for the dump, from several States. Special attention is given to the cutting (blocking) and aging (spalting) of the wood. This greatly enhances the outcome of the final art. I use many types of wood but the most used are Box Elder, Black Walnut, Wild Black Cherry and varied burl woods. To create interesting visual effects color may be applied using airbrush, markers, metal acid dye, ebonizing and patinas. Layer dying between sanding creates great depth and beautiful blends.
