    BNW Fall Show 2018/ Sculpture

My work is glass and metal sculpture. I take handmade and dichroic glass and cut , fuse and drape it in a kiln to make components formy insects such as eyes, elytra and thorax. I cut out detailed flight wings often representing the natural venation pattern with every cut of glass while keeping the original pattern of the glass sheet intact not unlike the grain in wood. I pound out pieces of sheet copper to capture lateral lines and segments to the insects body often riveting them together to an internal copper framed skeleton. The legs are tapered out copper, sheet wrapping the innermost portion to capture the natural look in nature. Pieces often contain a cluster of antique clockparts for point of interest. Recycled copper is used when possible
