Small Community Focus - Florence, OR

Florence, Oregon, is a scenic gem on the Pacific coast, renowned for its natural beauty and charming attractions. It has been called The Most Beautiful Town in the United States. Florence also boasts a thriving arts community of painters, sculptors, craft artisans, and performers. You’ll find a number of galleries in Old Town, and even preforming arts all year long through the Florence Events Center. The Florence Regional Arts Alliance hold an annual Coastal Plein Air event for two weeks during summer, and during the month of September you can attend the Elements of Art Studio Tours and visit the work space of local artists.

Maree Beers - Born in the Philippines and being half Nigerian herself, she has found that, other than music and water, beadwork is the most universal thing that ties her family’s cultures together.

Lauren Suveges - Since moving to Oregon, her work has become more centered around the natural world and as a coastal resident, the mountains, the forest, and the sea are central to her inspiration.

Kim Pickell - “After retiring from a 34-year career as an art and pottery educator, I feel as if I am just beginning to think of myself as an artist.”

Lynn Anderson - As an Anishinaabe, Ojibwa artist, she is known for her exquisite work in traditional and contemporary basket making, beadwork, and quill work.

Leeza Broome will show her photographs at the Bothell PCC later in August.

We Welcome Our Newest Board Member to NWAA

Ariane Callender is a self-taught abstract artist from New Orleans, Louisiana now working and living in Seattle, Washington. Ariane believes the spirit of her hometown naturally comes out in her artwork in bright and bold colors and playful compositions. Nature, diverse cultures, and eclectic fashion are also inputs for Ariane’s color palettes, and she frequently uses a palette knife, molding paste, and sandpaper to give her work a tactile element. Ariane hopes her artwork resonates with people emotionally; speaking to their hearts and transforming their homes in beautiful ways.

Northwest Art Alliance is a 36-year-old organization that was incorporated as a non-profit in 2010. Our focus is to empower artists through tools, education and exposure while also increasing public access to the arts in our region. In the past four years we have worked to transform the organization and expand its reach.

This is a year to celebrate the success and prepare for the future. We have weathered the pandemic and come out stronger. Our regional support now reaches further with new connections and improved visibility for artists, art, communities, and programs. It is EXCITING to be part of these changes. Northwest Art Alliance's mission and goals include expanding general and targeted outreach to all communities and artists to better serve artists' needs and help sustain support for their vocation. NWAA connects artists to the broader community through it's shows. Artists would not have this critical exposure without this connection.

Northwest Art Alliance normally produces three or more in-person shows each year with 1000+ artists represented during the last three years (unduplicated count).
