Emerging Artist Program

  • Northwest Art Alliance 665 Po Box Clinton, WA 98236 United States (map)

Emerging artists are the future of tomorrow’s art, but it’s not always an easy path. We designed our Emerging Artist Program (EAP) to help ease the journey from emerging artist to successful, experienced artist-business person.

Emerging artists are part of the Best of the Northwest Spring show but are juried separately, using criteria similar to our other event artists. Emerging artist winner(s) will be selected and paired with a Northwest Art Alliance legacy artist who acts as a mentor. The EAP artist is awarded a booth space free of charge (including pole, drape and electricity) in the Best of the Northwest Spring show and features prominently in show promotional materials.

What is the definition of an Emerging Artist?
“An emerging artist is an artist that has mastered the basic techniques in her/his art form and who is attempting to launch a professional career in the arts or an artist taking his/her established career in a new direction.” s helpful to have some art show experience, but not a requirement.

The 35th annual Best of the Northwest Spring show is a 2-day event showcasing the art of some of the finest artists in the Pacific Northwest. The event showcases over 100 artists from over 15 different mediums. The Emerging Artist will get the chance to participate in the same venue as the established artists, giving them the opportunity and experience to begin their own journey.

One or two winners are selected and paired with a NW Art Alliance legacy artist mentor. The mentor will be an experienced BNW artist who can share their expertise and help the emerging artist prepare for the event by being available to answer questions and “show them the ropes” of participating in the premier art and fine craft show in Seattle. The mentor will donate approximately 6 weeks of their time preceding the show to their protege to help them prepare for their BNW debut.  Not only that, but the chosen emerging artist(s) will also receive...

  • A 6x10 ft booth with complimentary Pole and Drape and Electricity. Prominently displayed in the main hall of the venue.

  • Advance promotional materials to offset marketing costs

  • Coverage in our newsletter and social media

  • Special “Emerging Artist” listing in the event program

  • Free passes to give to customers

  • Invitation to the free pizza dinner on load-in day

You may apply to both the Best of the Northwest Spring show and the EAP. Please be aware, if you are accepted into the Spring show, you will no longer be eligible for the EAP.
