Angela Ehrig - Engayla
Sourcing high-quality fibers and materials to create unique wearable art pieces is my passion. Starting with original patterns I design, I transform fabrics using multiple techniques: hand dyeing to achieve custom colors, discharge printing to remove existing dyes, eco dyeing with botanicals, silk-screening and stamping for pattern work, and hand painting for detailed designs. Some pieces incorporate appliqué work where I layer different fabrics together. Others involve taking existing textiles apart and reconstructing them in new ways. I often combine several of these methods on a single piece. Each piece is planned to be both artistic and wearable, with careful attention to how the fabrics will move and drape on the body.
