Elizabeth Heatherington

Elizabeth Heatherington - ForestBloom Fiberworks

I am often inspired by nature, such as organic shapes, colors, and textures. There's not always a direct translation from the natural world to my workshop but the rainforest is definitely my muse. In the fiber world, I am particularly inspired by the deep saturations of color found in cotton batiks. It is often a new batik that excites me to put it to work in a new piece. I'm often dreaming up new designs I want to put to the test. In a larger sense, I am very excited to learn more about fiber types and techniques. There is a particularly wealthy resource of fiber people out here on the peninsula who are willing to share their age-old techniques. My joy is in finding new ways to combine these techniques. I also truly enjoy sharing what I do and do so at every opportunity.
