Using the historic cyanotype process to create my artwork, I coat materials with a light-sensitive solution made from iron salts. Then, I arrange natural elements such as leaves and flowers directly on the surface. The composition is then exposed to sunlight, causing a chemical reaction that develops deep blue tones. After exposure, I rinse the material in water to stop the chemical process and reveal the final image. Each piece is created by hand and is a one-of-a-kind original. I apply this process to a variety of surfaces including watercolor paper, canvas, teabag paper, upcycled clothing, and sewn home goods such as throw pillows and table runners.
