Mary Enslow

The female form is central to my work, embodying strength, vulnerability, and resilience. Through sculpture, I explore identity, empowerment, and human connection, inviting viewers into a deeper dialogue with the figure. I have been developing these forms for over sixteen years, building intuitively with clay, imprinting texture with tools and found objects, and refining surfaces with layered oxides and glazes and added metal elements.

I earned a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Washington and studied in Rome, where classical sculpture, ruins, and natural forms shaped my approach. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest and traveling extensively informs my work’s focus on gesture, material presence, and the enduring emotional language of the human figure.
