Caren Brinkema Photography

My art is a blend of heart and technology – merging my wildlife photography, usually but not exclusively birds, with the infinite creativity of Photoshop. My intent is to never "fake" a scene or create something that does not exist in the natural world. Most images in my collection begin with a single photo, and then I painstakingly remove the background and distracting elements. Next I create a new background using multiple layers of complimentary colors, textures, photos, and natural elements, along with a little magic and a lot of heart, fashioning "portraits" of my subjects, highlighting their personality, mood, or humor.
