I am influenced by the northern landscape and find expression in the language of Scandinavian Modern Design. This is characterized by a regard for clear designs inspired by nature, the use of sculptural form and a classic respect for craftsmanship. Inspiration is found in the play of light, reflection and movement on forms - particularly those of ice, water and stone. The clean, reflective quality of silver lends itself to expressions found in Nordic winter landscapes. while mokume-gane offers the stratification found in stone. These abstract qualities within the metal support the basis of my imagery through the techniques of anticlastic and hand folded forms. High polish, satin and bead blasted finishes are used to reinforce my designs. I am originally from New York City where I developed an ongoing interest in Nordic design and architecture. This led me to working in Norway and I now continue my creative efforts in the Pacific Northwest.
