Karla Benjamin - Karla Kay Art
I buy silk by the bolt. I cut it to shape and pre-wash the fabric. I come up with a design using nature as my inspiration. I use resists to draw lines on the silk. I apply silk dye to the silk with paint brushes using watercolor techniques. I steam set the silk to make it colorfast. I make the silk into scarves, wall hangings, bags, hat bands, tassles, keychains, zipper pulls and more! I use the hemming remnants to make silk greeting cards. My pieces are all originals. They have a PNW theme.
