Muddy Jill Pottery

Muddy Jill Pottery - Jill Carroll

Jill works primarily with stoneware clay, creating each piece by hand using a combination of wheel throwing and sculptural techniques. Her process often incorporates carving, hand-building, and texturing to achieve organic forms and surface depth inspired by the Pacific Northwest. She uses a variety of glazes, often layered or selectively applied, to enhance natural tones and create subtle variation in each piece. She also occasionally wood fires select pieces in an anagama kiln, allowing ash and flame to naturally influence the surface. All work is kiln-fired for durability, resulting in functional pottery and sculptural forms that are both strong and uniquely expressive.
