Syed Ahmad - Art Fusion

I hand cut large pane glass using glass cutter and other hand tools into smaller shapes which are stacked into a multi-layered collage of clear, black and dichroic glass, then fire in a kiln at about 1400°F. The red hot glass collage slumps and fuses into one thick solid piece of glass. The layering of colored glass, separated by thick invisible clear glass, gives the finished work great depth. The intense, dynamic colors are achieved by using the interference colors of dichroic glass which compels you to look deeply into the piece while observing the changing hues as you move across, giving the piece the illusion of movement. The image is a play on patterns evocative of nature and the overall feel of the work is inspired by water.
