Bj Dollahite - Barbara Dollahite
I live in a place where sky, water and land meet, and light is ever changing. My intention is to share the beauty of nature, giving the observer a way to engage, take pause and enjoy peaceful moments, capturing nature and the spirit of the Pacific Northwest. The technique of water color collage was given to me by my mentor, Eleanor Prosser, who I worked with for 5 years, until she passed at 92. Painting on canvas panels, I start with a composition in acrylics. I then paint rice papers with watercolor, letting the papers dry, I tear the papers into shapes. I then start layering the papers defining and adding color to create intense depth and texture. The painting is in a constant state of change, which allows my ideas to evolve. The final coat is a UV gel to enhance and protect from fading.
