Gayle Whiteley Minjarez Jewelry
My contemporary jewelry designs begin with hand fabricated textured sheets of metal. I reticulate metal creating a mountainous rippled texture and I also fuse 22k gold and silver making geometric patterns. With these sheets I hand fabricate pendants, rings, bracelets and small boxes. I bezel set unique hand cut and polished semi-precious stones in my designs. I also use a Korean technique called Keum Boo using a chemical to create a strong black and gold contrast on metal. To add fashion color to my earrings I hand dye aluminum this process is similar to Batik on cloth, using many resists and overlay of colors creating unusual patterns on metal. My creations are unique and one of a kind.
