Laurie Gyarmathy - Unfurl Studio

I enjoy the tactile quality of sculpting with strips of soft wax which allow me to work gesturally and intuitively, teasing out energy and movement. Once I have discovered a balance between intention and spontaneity, these wax sculptures are cast and then undergo an extensive finishing process to create fluid ribbons of molten metal that mirror the luster of silk. Japanese silk cord is utilized in several pieces to provide a further tactile element, introduce color, and invite experimentation for styling.
