Diane Bellisario Art
I am a marquetry artist specializing in creating 2D artworks using wood veneers. Each piece is precisely hand-cut with a utility knife, allowing me precise control over the shapes and details. During the construction process, painter's tape temporarily holds the individual segments together. Once the composition is complete, I apply a single layer of tape across the surface to stabilize the image. The temporary tape is then removed, glue is applied to a birch plywood, and the assembled veneer image is transferred onto it. The entire piece is placed in a vacuum press to ensure strong, even adhesion. After pressing, the top layer of tape is removed, the surface is carefully sanded, and a protective polyurethane finish is applied to enhance durability.
