Lauren Knollmeyer Studio
My work explores the concept of balance. For me, that means raising my children while still having an engineering career, an art practice, and occasionally a moment of rest. These conflicting demands have led me to breakthroughs and breakdowns, which is why my work explores mental health, motherhood, and the one place I can always find solace: nature.
I am a self-taught oil painter, creating realistic portraits and soft landscapes made of many thin layers of glaze that are built up over weeks into a cohesive whole. The effect is luminescent and soft, creating dream-like landscapes and portraits that feel like a memory.
In a world so focused on hustle and comparison, my work remains a quiet invitation to slow down and reflect. To seek the moments that are the most healing and important.
