Lily Harrison - Chronic Baubles
I am an origami jeweler. I create hardened and durable jewelry from specialty paper using the Japanese paper folding technique known as origami. The 'magic' of the art is the durable and waterproof paper jewelry. I seal my origamis with a spray varnish several times, then with a liquid acrylic resin. I developed this technique myself over a period of many years. Once the drying is complete, I pierce the origami and hand-wire it into various types of jewelry, such as dangle earrings, studs, and necklaces. The origami shapes I fold include cranes, hummingbirds, ravens, snakes, pigs, leaves, flowers, squares, and abstract shapes. The shapes are a mix of traditional Japanese design and my own modern edits of those.
