Mary Skomerza

I paint with oil on linen canvas. I prefer the smoother texture of linen, which allows me to paint in thinner layers and retain a general softness with my paintings. I try to balance that softness with certain areas of detail so that the dreamy quality is grounded in a sense of realism. With the color palette I utilize, I strive for color harmony that treats the source of light almost as a primary subject.
