Timothy Haslet’s paintings over the last few years have featured a fluorescent acrylic base layer with layers of semi-translucent oil paint on top. This creates a beautiful balance of vibrant and subtle areas of color on the canvas, adding to the already dynamic qualities that are typical of his work. Viewers often ask if the paintings are somehow backlit; when the reality is simply that our eyes are perceiving and translating purposeful color choices.

A strikingly unique characteristic of his work: phosphorescent colors in blues, greens and pinks softly glow when even no light is present, once they are activated by ultraviolet light. This ensures that the painting has an evolving presence at any time of day or night.
