Whether it's moody or bright, the ability of color to evoke emotion is powerful and for me that emotion is joy. When I think back to some of the most joyous times in my life I see myself as a child with a box of crayons and a carefree innocence that gave me the courage to color outside the lines. In my collection Watercolor Blooms, I use bright colors and whimsical floral shapes with watercolor, acrylic paint, charcoal pencil and alcohol inks to convey that feeling and those memories. Inspired by spring in Seattle, each painting is different as I played with layers, textures and flow to represent the illusion of looking through the rain out into a garden.
