I work in watercolor preferring highly detailed tight images inspired by 18th and 19th scientific illustrations of plants and animals. I also paint airplanes and creatures of fantasy. I generally prefer to start with a strong drawing and build up layers of paint versus doing more painterly washy techniques. I frequently will scumble out highlights to add dimension and do additional highlights with white gouache and possibly white acrylic.
