Timothy Haslet

Timothy Haslet - Haslet Studio

Timothy Haslet’s paintings over the last couple of years have often featured a fluorescent acrylic base layer with layers of semi-translucent oil paint on top. This creates a beautiful balance of a cloud and soft areas of color on the canvas, adding to the already dynamic qualities that are typical of his work. Viewers often ask if the paintings are somehow backlit; when the reality is simply that our eyes are perceiving and translating purposeful color choices. New to this year are blended fluorescent layers as a base, where Timothy incorporates ""neon brown"" mixes of complimentary fluorescent colors (in addition to the highly saturated pure tones). This effect creates dark values in low, warm-toned lighting and more mid-range values with a white glow in high, cool-toned lighting - all contributing to a sense of wonder and mystery with each piece.
