My geometric abstract works are created with brushed acrylic paint on wrapped canvas for the basic shapes, and acrylic paint pens, straight edges, and shape templates for the final details. I finish the edges of the canvas with a painted black border and black upholestry tacks to create an industrial riveted effect in lieu of a traditional frame. The objectives with my Geometric Abstract paintings include the concept of Asymmetrical Symmetry, where anomalies in the symmetrical patterns create asymmetry in the complex structure of the composition. Also, I strive to create motion and depth in an otherwise static geometric style with the layering of shapes and lines, as well as the use of contrasting bright and muted colors. My work is inspired by nature, like natural landmarks; music, including song titles and lyrics; and everyday objects, such as a chess board and its playing pieces.
