Erin Tiedeman Art - Erin Tiedeman
I work primarily with acrylic paint on canvas, creating each piece through an intuitive process of layering, scraping, revealing, and rebuilding. Rather than beginning with a fixed composition, I allow each painting to evolve naturally, responding to color, texture, and movement as they emerge. Using palette knives, squeegees, brushes, and other mark-making tools, I build rich surfaces before removing sections of paint to uncover hidden layers beneath. This continuous cycle of addition and subtraction creates depth, organic texture, and unexpected forms. I embrace spontaneity, allowing each decision to influence the next, so every painting becomes a record of discovery. My process reflects nature itself—constantly shifting, eroding, growing, and transforming—resulting in abstract works that balance structure with freedom.
