Rachael Ann Art - Rachael Engell
Mainly working on cradled wood panels, I build layered surfaces that evolve from intuitive abstraction into refined realism. I begin loosely with texture, charcoal, and expressive mark-making, then gradually develop the image through layers of acrylic and oil. Each painting calls for something different; some having more texture, some stopping at acrylic, and others moving to oil. This process allows the painting to emerge organically, maintaining a sense of light, openness, and expansiveness. All sides of my paintings are finished and do not require framing.
