We create intricately detailed fine art 3D Wood Shadow Boxes. As a husband and wife collaborative team, our ideas, derived and inspired by nature, the environment, and some whimsical are sketched on paper, then refined on computer. We determine our color palette and number of layers, and create a rendering of the finished work. We then disassemble the layers by hand drawing each layer on the computer for each piece to be intricately laser cut and / or etched on pre-hand sanded and stained wood. Flow of wood grain is carefully selected which is vital to the finished piece. The assembled artwork is glued with spacers to create a 3D effect (specific to our shadow boxes), and finished with a handmade frame. Some works incorporate the frame as a part of the artwork itself. The final creation is repeatedly lacquered for a lasting finish.
